With the goal to cultivate impactful leadership, CTC has promoted David Li to the position of Co-President.
After learning chess in an after-school program when he was 5 years old, David quickly developed a passion for the game. David has had many years of extensive national and international experience, including winning 5th place in the 2023 U.S. Junior Open and 5th place in the 2023 U.S. Amateur Team North.
David joined CTC in 8th grade with the resolution to expand CTC’s missions and values throughout the world. He established the Global Outreach initiative to provide chess instruction and resources to children in underprivileged schools around the world. For three years, he’s organized the teaching of weekly online classes, directed the donation of chess books and resources, and streamlined logistics in hosting USCF and FIDE-rated tournaments across the world.
Now an 11th grader, David aims to continue his work on making chess resources more accessible for everyone to enjoy. As co-president, he’ll keep working closely with CTC’s leadership team to expand the organization’s international impact and bridge the barriers faced globally in competitive chess. David’s bio and his chess and life experiences can be found at https://www.chessctc.org/about.
