Founded by Woman International Master Ellen Wang, Chess Through Challenges Inc. (CTC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization officially registered in 2021. Striving to address the societal challenges of gender disparity, economic disadvantage and health conditions within and beyond chess communities worldwide, CTC utilizes and innovates around the educational, social and therapeutic power of chess. Through initiatives and collaborations, CTC endeavors to contribute to the bigger effort by the chess communities to empower girl players and close the gender gap, and to introduce chess to underprivileged youth as an educational tool. It also aspires to bring the therapeutic benefits of chess to those suffering from Alzheimer’s, autism, or other neurological disorders and health issues.
